About Website Editor
In the old days the internet ran on html and it wasn’t always easy to understand what was going on. Later came visual editors that allowed us to see exactly where things fit and move them around on the screen. This allowed us to create listings on craigslist, lemonade stand flyers for the kids, and online profiles on Myspace and Facebook. There were even companies that setup free websites with those same editing tools that allowed for everyone to make brilliant looking websites. These tools also didn’t take as long to use and were relatively quick and easy to setup in minutes, even with a unique domain name.
The funny thing we all seemed to notice after a while using these free website builders is that they didn’t work as well as ones with fewer features, or have the same polish as one’s built by professionals, even if the free one’s in some ways looked better visually.
The reason there was such a large drop off was because design is only as important as it’s functionality. What that means is that no one will notice a brilliant design if they can’t figure out how to use the website, or what it’s for.
We’ve found the best combination of putting the two together is to build out a platform that’s flexible enough to handle client customizations and still maintain the core user experience.
This principle is not our opinion but a proven fact you can observe around the web. Facebook for example allows us to customize our profiles but limits us from changing the name of the website, or colors that appear on the app. While this may sound like a loss for anyone that wishes the site wasn’t blue, it helps people recognize a single brand and know they are on the correct page. It also allows for a single framework to update the software and protect the site from hackers, and create actual programs that run on that framework.
Asclepius will continue to power your website and marketing which means your website outline, formatting, and placements will still rely on research tested functionality, but you’ll also be able to make new pages.
We know your going to love building and updating your pages!
