Bariatric Get Started Page
If you are somewhat familiar with marketing you may be familiar with what’s called a “call to action,” which is a marketing technique used to prompt an action. An example would be listing a phone number, a contact or buy button, it can honestly be a variety of things depending on the industry. Sidewalk ads can give directions for example.
Often times the view of improving a call to action is to improve it’s ability to create a user selected action. Some will make the button look nicer, others will make it bigger, or put a contact form on every page. While these tactics are effective in their own right, the smart patient or customer will understand the tactic and avoid it at all cost potentially losing them completely.
A Bariatric Get Started page is an attempt by the practice to reach out to those individuals directly and make the personal pitch to the reader. The name itself often means it will be the first tab clicked on most site-menus as it describes what those interested should do first. There are a few approaches to a bariatric get started page that I can describe, the first is a set of instructions, the second and more popular is the useful information set.
The set of instructions basically calls for a patient to take a number and go through a to-do list. This couldn’t be a more terrible way to increase seminar attendance. It may make things easier on the office if the patient fills out paperwork, and faxes it in but they are still learning about the practice. It’s best to avoid task lists and keep it simple, or hide it in a resources tab. If your practice is having trouble screening insurance information then it may be useful to have them snap a photo of their insurance card & drivers license using your website’s contact form.

The most skeptical of patients will want to learn more about the practice and often ask the following important questions.
- Does my Weight Matter
- Why Bariatric Surgery?
- Insurance
- Cost
- Schedule
Depending on your practice you may prefer to omit a category or include one however this is the most needed information among patients, omitting or choosing not to provide it will most likely not provide SEO benefit and may even turn off potential patient leads.
